A couple years back, after my medical scares I really began to think of things I wanted to do. Call them my bucket list. Granted most of them weren't that great and consisted of things more in the line of be nicer to so and so, enjoy the time I have. But there were the one or two things I decided I wanted to do in my lifetime.
The first thing listed. To see Kenny Chesney play in Boston MA. Why Boston? Well I have this love of the city for starters. The baseball team has become my own, the history and the vibe and just everything about it has become me.
Second, Kenny loves the town, a couple of his songs revolve around it, so naturally.....and third, he usually ends the tour there. So I always assumed it would be an amazing show.
But of course I had to get there, it had to be at a time I could go. And I had to have the means.
And last November, I took the plunge and along with my husband decided this was going to be the year to go. It was going to be now or never-little did I know he would make an announcement of a no tour for a few years shortly after- I bought our tickets, booked the flights and reserved a hotel for the weekend.
And waited.
Until this past weekend when all that waiting paid off, and my dream of seeing him in Boston came true. And did it live up to everything I thought? Yes. It was an incredible show, he played a full 30-45 longer than any other typical venue I had seen him at. Whether it was because it Boston, or the end of the tour I do not know. But he did. And it wasn't songs I was used to hearing, the same ones I had known for years. But the ones I love about Boston, and about friends and Island life.
Even the opening act was amazing, the end of the tour seemed to bring out the most in all of them.
As for crowd and all I can not say it seemed all that much different. Well let me say, the tailgating in Foxboro was dif more alive than I had seen, but on the inside they seemed more into the music than drinking, a departure from my usual tours I had seen him where its usually reversed. The crowd at Foxboro drank on the outside more. Or so it seemed.
It was loud, but I can't say it was any louder than it has been in the past at FEDEX Field, though I have to say the air did seem a little different.
And as the night flew by I didn't want it to end, I sang She Comes From Boston at the top of my life. I stood alongside Bostonians and the rest of the New England crowds who had no idea this DCtonian was with them and soaked it all in, the songs, the stadium. EVERYTHING. Because I was here, and I had done something I promised myself I would do.
And even if I am not from the city
For a night.
I was.
Bucket list task=complete.

Brothers of the Sun.
But what I want to touch upon this year is not the entertainment on stage. Because for the most part-and if you are someone who has repeatedly gone to his shows you know-Kenny's shows don't change much from year to year. The songs may vary slightly but the shows for the most part stay the same. So we will not talk about this. Rather I will talk about the entertainment off the field. Because sometimes this may be just as entertaining and thought pondering enough as the show on stage itself.
This years crowd brought out the drunk in people.
In fact it is perhaps the most amount of drunks I have ever seen at a Kenny concert. I know, it has become almost a sort of expectations that when you go to a Kenny show, you drink. Sort of the same thing as Buffet, but usually I have been able to go and not feel as though I am the only one not drunk. But this year, I felt. Just that. The only non drunk. I don't mind people drinking, truly I don't. Its not something I enjoy but whatever. What I do mind is the fact that people get so drunk, and there are so many of them that it becomes sort of a distraction and makes the show a little less distracting. I don't enjoy getting puked on by the guy behind me and then after he goes for more beer. Because apparently that is exactly what he needs more of. Or the guy in front of us that is so drunk he pretty much starts disrespecting his fiance and getting totally in her face to the point you feel sorry for her. I expected him to start punching her. Thankfully he passed out before he did so.
Granted there were the drunk fights, the hauling away in handcuffs because of something one drunk guy said to another. Again to be expected. But I don't enjoy watching a guy completely lose everything for twenty minutes and when they finally take him away on the stretcher he is wearing a barf bag. I begin to wonder how anyone can truly enjoy themselves if they are that gone. I did not spend that kind of money to get thrown out, that plastered and that embarrassed myself.
Some songs say it all....
As Tim's Live like you were dying came on the guy in front of us grabbed his wife and started slowing dancing. His friend beside us followed suit. Then out of the blue, they broke down and cried. Three grown men, all ex military. And they cried. I sat watching and for some reason I was just really touched. So much so that I began to cry. I mean the song is pretty, but for some reason, it just got to me. After we found out the men had just lost their father. Totally made since.
Twenty minutes later one of them was taken off in handcuffs after getting in a fight...
And some outfits are better left at home.
Yes cowboy boots are great, and hey this is after all a country concert. And bikinis are perfect for the summer. So are cut offs, tank tops and sundresses. But sometimes these things don't mix. And while I give mad props to people that try to pull it off, wearing shorts that are five times to small and shirts that expose a little to much, I would rather not see. No I am not saying that you can't wear these things. But wearing something that actually fits and is your size, goes a long way. And believe me, makes you look a hell of a lot more attractive. No matter what sex you are. I know there were guys out there that could have been schooled in some fashion 101.
Yes, I have learned a lot this year from the show. At times I was annoyed-again the whole puking on thing just wasn't enjoyable.-at times I was amused-like the woman behind me giving me the bedroom look and telling me she would do anything right now-and at times I was touched-as already explained.
But you better believe I will be right back in those stands again next year.
After all, its Kenny. How could I not?

Goin Coastal.-2011
I have never seen so many drunk, bra less, bikini topped plus size women. While I gave them power for being that confident in their size, and while I do not hold anything against anyone I do believe there is a time when people should not be wearing certain things.
Still whether I agreed or not there where plenty of woman and men for that mattered who disagreed. Though believe me there were plenty of men who decided to bare it all. Including several beer guts.
Unlike the previous night when people rushed right into the arena, this crowd took their time tailgating in the parking lot. Which meant, even from my spot three rows back on the fifty yard line I had a pretty good view of the opening acts. And since there was several. Here is my rundown.
1. Uncle Kracker-A hell of a lot tammer than previous years. I blame his rape incident the last time he toured with Kenny. I wasn't impressed.
2. Billy Currington-A lot cuter on the screen than in person. He had a little more energy than Kracker but still could have done without him in the long run.
3. Zac Brown band-This band was all the hype leading up to the show. I guess I could see why, they did a great rendition of Devil Went Down to GA, and a pretty incredible America the Beautiful. Air Force one flew over it right after it was done. It was pretty sweet. It wasn't even planned.
And then came the man. Now I have seen him year after year and I never get tired of it. Even if for the majority of the part the sets are the same, the songs and the graphics are the same. But this year, was a little different. He had added some new songs from his new album. I love when the entire crowd-which was well over 50,000 plus sing, and you can just hear us. I love watching him look at the crowd in total awe...yes one guy really can pull off a packed stadium. And with every year I always find the one or two songs that I wish wouldn't end. I suppose mine for the year were.
1. Summertime-my personal anthem
2. Anything but mine-Crowd participation is amazing.
3. Somewhere with you-Great addition this year.
I could listen to him all day long and always find that the time up on stage is always way to short. Especially this year. All I wanted was for him to sign on and on and on. But I thought his set was cut really short this year.
I wondered why.
Until the encore, where he usually comes out for one song, She thinks my tractor's sexy. But this year, not only did he not do just one song, but he did about six extra songs. Which explains why he did a shorter set in my mind.
Still I would have loved six or seven more.
